Since 2010, our Bereavement Fund has provided a way to honor the spirits of classmates and close family members who have completed their life’s journey. Through this fund, we memorialize classmates and provide words of comfort to each other and our families in times of loss.
When a classmate is going through a difficult period not related to the passing of a loved one, notify Lisa Stewart (lmsstew@gamil.com). Sandra Farragut Hemphill will send an uplifting card from the class.
Lisa Stewart (lmsstew@gamil.com ) is notified when a classmate or a classmate’s parent, spouse or child passes, providing names and contact information.
Lisa emails the class and notifies Cynthia Walker Derrico and Sheilah Webb Clay who send condolences on behalf of the class.
A customized class card is sent to our classmates when they lose a loved one. Cynthia Derrico has primary responsibility for sending the cards.
When a classmate passes away, a tribute or proclamation is given to the classmate’s family and, when possible, read by a classmate at the funeral or memorial service.
Sheilah Clay sends the proclamation to the family or to the classmate who will be reading it at the service. Please notify her if you are attending the service and can read the proclamation.
Classmates contributed money to start and continue the Bereavement Fund
The funds are deposited into a bank account managed by Lisa Stewart and Sandra F. Hemphill.
When the Bereavement Fund reserves drop below $200 additional contributions will be solicited.
